About This Spot

Stepping into China Chefs Restaurant in Onley feels like entering a familiar neighborhood gathering spot where warmth and straightforward charm set the tone. It’s the kind of place where the pace slows just enough to savor not only the food but the quiet hum of everyday connection—a relaxed retreat from the road with an inviting, unpretentious atmosphere.

The restaurant strikes a balance between casual dining and comfortable intimacy, where friendly faces behind the counter and a welcoming layout make it easy to settle in for a good meal. While the décor leans toward the familiar and well-worn, there’s an honest character here that underlines a long-standing presence in the community. This is not a place chasing trends, but one quietly confident in the flavors and moments it has offered for years.

On the menu, flavors warm the room with dishes that feel both classic and thoughtfully prepared. Whether it's a crispy fried chicken wing that surprises with its crunch or a flavorful seafood combination that brings variety to the table, the offerings reflect a kitchen skilled at delivering favorites that satisfy daily cravings. Plates arrive hot and generous, the kind you appreciate after a long day or on a casual evening out. Attention to accommodating preferences shines through—a reminder that here, food is about comfort and connection.

This is also a spot where a modest bar presence adds a subtle layer to the evening, a quietly convivial space to enjoy a drink alongside familiar flavors. The blend of restaurant and bar invites guests to linger—whether for a family meal, a pause on a road trip, or a gathering that feels more like visiting an old friend's kitchen than dining out.

China Chefs holds a gentle reliability that keeps locals returning and visitors pleasantly surprised. It’s that dependable, understated haven where the focus is on good food, steady service, and the simple, valuable rhythms of shared meals.

Perfect spot for goodbye lunch. Food was excellent. We had the buffet and were welcomed like royalty. Our only disappointment was no white rice on buffet. Otherwise everything was delicious.

I've been eating here since I moved to the Eastern Shore in 2002. The owners are incredibly nice and the food is quite good. I highly recommend the cashew chicken, orange beef, and dumplings. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and this is definitely a decent choice for a nice sit-down dinner.

Really reliable old school Chinese fast food. Fried chicken was even crispier than Popeyes!

I wish this place would have a make over. Food is delicious but the place is outdated and needs a fresh look.

We ordered the pupu for 2 and asked to substitute the shrimp (i'm allergic). They had no issue with this and our food was delicious, hot and FAST! We also ordered the wonton soup and pork lo mein, both DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, we do not live in the area, we actually live 12 hours away, but it was perfect portion and very satisfying! Check this place out!

Great hot fresh lunch buffet 11:30a-1:30p. Quick friendly staff. The food is flavorful. Probably the best Chinese food on the Eastern Shore of VA.
